For your application to be considered, it must be submitted as FINAL by the deadline. Applications that are late, incomplete, or not submitted as FINAL will not be considered. Please note that all deadlines are in EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST).

Is there a cost to attend the conferences?
The conferences are FREE! If you are selected to attend the conference, any materials needed and meals will be provided by the host school. You may need to provide your own housing or transportation depending on the conference. Please check the individual conference pages for details.
Who is eligible to apply for the Public Service Weekends?
Specific eligibility requirements are listed on the individual conference site pages. High school students, graduate school students, and student with confirmed enrollment in advanced degree program for the 2020-2021 school year are not eligible to apply to any of the conferences.
Is there an age requirement to apply for the Public Service Weekends?
No, there isn’t an age requirement to apply for the Public Service Weekends. All ages are welcome to apply as long as you meet the conference host site’s eligibility requirements.
Am I required to attend all days of the conference?
Yes, accepted participants are expected to attend all days of the conference and participate in all conference activities. No exceptions will be made to this requirement.
How many applicants will be selected to attend each conference?
This varies depending on the conference site, but most accept 20-50 applicants. Each year we receive more applications than there are available conference spots. Please note that submitting an application is not a registration for the conference. If you are selected to attend, you will be contacted by the host school to confirm your acceptance and arrange travel, if applicable.
How can I create a strong application?
- Double check the spelling and grammar in your essay before submitting.
- Follow the word limit requirement of 300 to 500 words.
- Demonstrate a clear interest in public policy and/or international affairs advanced education and careers.
- Check that any documents you attach to your application are accessible to reviewers. Test this by downloading them from the portal before you submit.
- Submit the application as FINAL before the deadline. If your application is still in DRAFT status at the deadline, it will not be reviewed.
When will I receive an application decision?
Applicants can expect to receive a decision 1-3 weeks after the application deadline. Admissions decisions will be sent directly from the conference host school. No decisions will be released before the application deadline.
